OUTKAST #ATLAST x RAURY

Designer

The iconic duo Outkast announced their final performance together in one single concert at Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park, drawing a crowd of over 60,000. During the event, they featured special guests, including Raury, an emerging hip-hop talent associated with LoveRenaissance (LVRN) Records. Recognized as a teenage prodigy and compared to André 3000, Raury was part of the 2015 XXL Freshman Class. My role involved designing Raury's outfit, commissioned by him and his team (led by Trevon Williams of Von Allen) and inspired by his successful and notable EP, "Indigo Child."

Through multiple meetings and an impromptu jam session with Raury in my 1-bedroom apartment living room, we collaborated on the design of a layered tunic-style top. This unique piece was crafted not only for the OutKast concert but also for another memorable performance at Red Gallery in the UK. Our creative sessions not only resulted in an outfit that reflected Raury's style but also added a personal touch to his performances, making them truly one-of-a-kind.

Lesson: Embrace authenticity and remain true to yourself. Everyone else is taken.
